Covilhã is a city in the centre of Portugal, on the door step of the “Serra da Estrela” mountain range. The city has a very rich past, but today is a cosmopolitan and vibrant area with its university, nightclubs, restaurants and bars.
Covilhã is located on the south-eastern slopes of the mountains, near to the highest point of continental Portugal – the 'Torre' which stands at 2000 metres. There are many historical sites of interest in the region as well as wine and fruit production areas, and a high proportion of goat and sheep farming.

From Oporto
Take the A1 South. In Albergaria take the IP5 in the direction of Viseu. Pass through Guarda still on the IP5, before following the A23 in the direction of Covilhã. Take the Covilhã exit North, in the direction of the city centre.

From Coimbra
Take the IC2 in a northerly direction. Take the IP3 heading in the direction of Viseu. Before you reach Santa Comba Dão, turn right in the direction of Mangualde. From here, follow the IP5 through Guarda before taking the A23 in the Covilhã. by the A23. Take the Covilhã exit North, in the direction of the city centre.

Take the A1 in a northerly direction and take the Torres Novas exit heading towards the A23. Take the A23 passing through Abrantes. After Castelo Branco, take the Covilhã South exit, in direction of the center of the City.

From Faro
Take the A2 in the direction of Lisbon passing Castro Verde until you reach Marateca. Take the A13/N119 to Infantado following the N10 until Vila Franca de Xira. Here take the A1 in a northerly direction, before exiting at the Torres Novas exit heading towards the A23. Take the A23 passing through Abrantes. After Castelo Branco, take the Covilhã South exit, in direction of the center of the City.
