Opera fans will be treated to Rigoletto and Samson & Delilah in Ireland this year at the Anna Livia Dublin International Opera Festival.
Anna Livia is the personification of the River Liffey that runs through Dublin (Abhainn na Life in Irish) which lends its name to this annual festival.
This year's event sees the return of Pierra-Yves Pruvot to the stage as the High Priest of Dagon in Samson & Delilah, an opera based on the biblical story about the plight of the Philistines.
According to the Dublin Opera website, he was the "voice of the Anna Livia Festival" last year.
Rigoletto is led by Dublin-born conductor Derek Gleeson and tells the tale of a hunchback court jester who tries to safeguard his daughter, unsuccessfully, from a duke's whim.
The shows start at the Gaiety Theatre from September 7th most evenings from 19.30, local time.
A specially-priced pre-opera dinner has been organised for the festival at nearby Citron Restaurant on St Stephens Green.
