A massive outdoor event, Elbhangfest takes place each year in Dresden along the banks of the river Elbe.
Celebrating the rich history and culture of the region, the festival first took place nearly 20 years ago in 1990 to raise funds for the restoration of the Loschwitzer and Masria am Wasser churches.
Festivities, which include over 200 things to do, take place in a region called Blaues Wunder, the area between a bridge in Loschwitz and Pillintz Castle.
Crowds are entertained by a range of performances, including concerts, theatre, dance, readings, tours and exhibitions.
Children are also amused by a selection of shows dedicated to the younger generation.
Beginning with a parade through the area, the celebration culminates in a fantastic firework display.
Dresden hosts a variety of cultural highlights, including a biannual music festival, the Dresden Festival of Contemporary Music and the Dixieland Festival, which is a great celebration of jazz.
