Horsing around in Dublin

There's an equestrian overload in the Irish capital in August as the annual Dublin Horse Show gallops into town.

Attracting over 1,400 horses competing for an impressive stash of prize funds, it is no surprise the combination of mounts and money see visitors flocking to the event in huge numbers.

Traditionally the show was an important meeting place for breeders, but it has since branched out to include equine displays and fiercely contested competitions, of which a highlight is the show jumping on the final day.

Proving it is much more than a one-trick pony, the Dublin Horse Show has also become something of a fashion institution, with guests and celebrity attendees usually dressing to impress.

The wardrobe effort pays off on Thursday as Ladies' Day officials award a cash prize to the best-dressed punter.

Live music on the lawns and a littering of champagne bars add to the two-legged entertainment away from the paddocks.
