The Science Museum in London is the perfect day out for all the family, and is the ideal way to educate the kids without them noticing.

With a wealth of hands-on exhibitions as well as an IMAX 3D cinema showing science-related films, there is something for everyone at this South Kensington museum.

Galleries cover a massive range of science- related topics including the body, space, energy and computing, with one of the most comprehensive scientific collections in the world.

The Science Museum's most popular gallery is Launchpad, which has recently been revamped, offering entertainment for all the senses. Exhibits include a thermal imaging camera, a light table and the Big Machine which teaches users about levers.

There are also exhibitions tracing the history of medicine, a highlight being the King George III collection of scientific instruments.

Like many of London's attractions, entry to the Science Museum is free. The area of South Kensington is full of great sites for tourists, including the Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. It is also just a short walk from Knightsbridge, home to the famous Harrods store.
