To experience the ultimate in German-style cheesy music, head to Hamburg's Heiligengeistfled at the beginning of July.
The Schlagermove Festival features hundreds of thousands of participants who celebrate the kitcshy sound of Schlager music, complete with spangly costumes and bright wigs.
Visitors delight in the 70s-style music, donning the appropriate bell-bottoms,as they sing and dance along to some of the genre's greatest hits.
Over 300,000 people turn up at the Hamburg event each year, the highlight of which is the truck parade in the St Pauli district.
Here, participants dressed to the nines in their 70s regalia take to the top of the trucks and dance their hearts out.
Visitors then head to the party tents to do some more dancing and even some karaoke for those who are not content with hearing the musicians do their thing.
In July Hamburg is also home to the Theatre Tent Festival, displaying a range of cabaret and circus acts.
